The fastest way to peel garlic requires using two durable bowls. Put the garlic in one of the bowls, and place the other bowl upside-down on top of the first one, making sure there are no gaps. Shake the bowls vigorously for 10 seconds, forcing the skin to come off.
If two similarly sized bowls are not available, lay a chef's knife or other flat, sturdy object on top of the clove. Using the palm of your hand, hit it firmly. This loosens the garlic's skin, allowing for easy removal. Garlic peeling tools are also available. These tools are made from rubber and cause the skin to rub away from the clove when rolling the garlic inside.
