Three Chocolate Cookies is Paula Deen's take on chocolate chip cookies. To make this treat, preheat an oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit, and lightly grease two or three baking sheets. Beat 1 cup of softened butter and 1/2 cup of shortening with an electric mixer until creamy.
While continuing to mix the butter, slowly add 3/4 cup of granulated sugar and 1 3/4 cups of firmly packed brown sugar. Once fluffy, add 3 large eggs and 1 teaspoon of vanilla, beating well.
In a separate bowl, stir together 3 3/4 cups of all-purpose flour, 2 teaspoons of baking soda and 1 teaspoon of salt, then gradually add it to the butter blend, mixing until everything is well incorporated. Stir in a 12-ounce bag of semisweet chocolate chips, 1 cup of milk chocolate morsels, three 1-ounce squares of bittersweet chocolate that have been chopped and 1 cup of almond brickle chips.
Drop 1/4 cup-sized spoonfuls of the dough onto the prepared cookies sheets, leaving about 3 inches between them. Bake the cookies for 11 to 12 minutes, or until they're lightly browned around the edges. Let the cookies cool on the cookie sheets for a few minutes before removing to a wire rack. The recipe makes around three dozen cookies.
