The Pampered Chef recipe for taco rings involves making a ring of crescent rolls and filling it with ground beef and cheese seasoned with taco spices. Fill the center of the ring with lettuce, onions, tomatoes and other optional toppings such as olives and sour cream.
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Brown 1 1/2 pounds of 90 percent lean ground beef over medium heat, then drain off the fat. In a large bowl, mix the ground beef with a package of taco seasoning mix, 2 tablespoons of water and 1 1/2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese.
Using two 8-ounce packages of crescent dough, unroll the dough, and separate it to make 16 triangles. Place the triangles in a circle on a large, round baking stone so that the points extend over the edge and the wide sides form the border of about a 5-inch space in the center. The triangles should overlap slightly.
Scoop or spoon the meat and cheese mixture evenly over the dough so it makes a ring shape. Roll the points of the dough up over the filling, tucking them under at the center; the filling will show through the gaps in the dough. Lightly beat 1 egg white, and brush it over the top. Sprinkle 1/4 cup of the shredded cheese over that. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until the dough becomes golden brown.
Fill the center space, if desired, with toppings to serve.
