Stove Top stuffing requires one and a half cups of hot water as directed on the box. The prepackaged stuffing is commonly made by combining the hot water with four tablespoons of butter or margarine and heated to a boil.
The contents of the seasoning and stuffing packet is added to this mixture and taken off of heat to absorb the liquid. The stuffing is ready in five to six minutes total. Stove Top stuffing was introduced to the United States in 1972 and is currently owned by Kraft Foods. The stuffing is available in grocery stores throughout the year.
