One cup of cooked quinoa provides 8.14 grams of protein, which is 14 to 17 percent of the recommended daily protein intake. Quinoa is regarded as a complete protein food, because it contains the nine essential amino acids, which the body cannot synthesize, and so must be sourced from food.
Aside from being a good source of protein, quinoa is gluten-free, cholesterol-free, and low in fat and calories. One cup of cooked quinoa only gives 222 calories and 3.4 grams of fat. It is also highly recommended for vegetarians, because of the iron, magnesium, manganese, riboflavin (vitamin B2), lysine and fiber it provides.
