Mince pies do freeze well. Baked pies should be thoroughly cooled before wrapping them for the freezer. A moisture- and vapor-proof wrap should be used.
Other pie types that freeze well include fresh fruit, lemon chiffon, chocolate chiffon and vegetable pies, such as those made from squash. Covering the pie with a paper plate and placing it in a paper box adds even more protection. Types of pies that do not freeze well include custards, as meringue toppings typically separate, sticking to the outer wrap and making a mess. Most pie fillings and shells, either baked or unbaked, can be safely frozen.
