Velveeta cheese can be melted in a microwave by cutting it into cubes, placing it in a microwave-safe bowl and cooking it for five minutes on high power. Three minutes into the melting process, stop the microwave and stir the cheese to ensure even melting and to remove lumps.
Although Kraft recommends melting Velveeta in the microwave, it can also be melted on a stovetop. Place cut-up pieces of Velveeta cheese in a saucepan and melt it slowly over low heat, stirring often to keep it from sticking to the pan.
