McDonald's has offered several games for kids in its Happy Meals since the meals' introduction in 1979. The first toy offered was a mini Star Trek: The Motion Picture board game.
Toy options inside McDonald's Happy Meals have ranged from characters of the Super Mario 3 game in 1990 to actual mini Digi Sportz handheld games in 2009. Kids were able to make their own game shows with four Nickelodeon gadgets that either gave a simulated applause, acted as a loudspeaker or squirted ooze. The included Blimp Game operated by blowing into the attached whistle, which spun two dials instructing the players what to do.
