Some popular marinades for chicken wings include chili ranch, honey mustard, Mediterranean, Hawaiian, Vietnamese, classic buffalo, teriyaki and Parmesan. Some more gourmet marinades include maple-bacon, Armenian herb marinades, Cajun buttermilk, Jamaican and Mexican mole.
While most people simply rub chicken in olive oil and salt before cooking and add sauces afterwards, many of these sauces can be used as a marinade for naked chicken wings. To make a Mediterranean marinade for chicken wings, combine oregano, rosemary, salt and pepper, garlic and olive oil in a plastic bag. Let the raw chicken wings sit in the marinade mixture in the fridge until the flavors have soaked into the chicken.
In order to make an Armenian herb marinade, combine olive oil, lemon juice, salt, thyme, marjoram, pepper, a garlic clove, shallots and parsley in a bowl and mix thoroughly. Then, lay the chicken wings in a glass baking pan and cover completely in the marinade. Cover the chicken and let it sit in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
Finally, to make a Hawaiian marinade for chicken wings, puree pineapple chunks, oyster sauce and honey, then let the wings sit in the marinade overnight. For added flavor, pour more marinade on the wings right before they are finished cooking.
