There are approximately 200 calories in an 8-ounce cup of plain, fat-free frozen yogurt. However, the amount of calories increases significantly with the addition of toppings, such as hot fudge, marshmallows, cookies and candy.
While frozen yogurt is generally considered healthier than ice cream, it is not that different nutritionally. The main difference between the two is fat content. A cup of vanilla ice cream contains about 15 grams of fat, while a cup of vanilla frozen yogurt contains about 6 grams of fat. Frozen yogurt also contains probiotics, though the cold temperatures make it difficult for most of them to survive.
