The calories in fruit vary depending on the variety. Avocados have about 450 calories per 10 ounces, while strawberries only have about 90. The majority of common fruits, including apples, peaches, apricots, plums, oranges and pears, all have from 110 to 160 calories per 10-ounce serving.
In general, sweeter fruits have more calories than citrus fruits, and denser fruits, such as bananas, have more calories than melons, which contain a lot of water. Bananas have about 250 calories per 10-ounce serving, while grapes have about 200. Dried fruits are much higher in calories by weight than fresh fruit, because drying removes the water and concentrates the sugar.
