To make worms out of Jell-O and straws, place a bundle of straws upright in a tall container, and fill them with a mixture of raspberry Jell-O and unflavored gelatin. Once the mixture is firm, run the straws under warm water to loosen the Jell-O worms.
For the Jell-O worms recipe from Mel's Kitchen Cafe, pour 1 6-ounce package of grape Jell-O into a bowl with 3/4 ounce of unflavored gelatin. Dissolve the powder in 3 cups boiling water. Let the gelatin mixture cool for about 15 minutes, then add 3/4 cup whipping cream. Mix well, then add green food coloring until the desired color is achieved.
Place about 100 plastic straws in a tall container with a 4-cup capacity. Hold the straws together with a rubber band, if necessary. Make sure that the bottom openings of the straws are flush with the bottom of the container. Place the container of straws in a larger dish to catch any spills. Pour the Jell-O mixture into the straws, ensuring each one is filled. Chill the straws for at least eight hours, or until the Jell-O is set.
Remove the bundle of straws from the container, and run them under warm water to loosen the Jell-O. Take individual straws from the bundle, and squeeze each straw between thumb and forefinger to extract the worm.
