You can make taco salad with ground beef, chopped onion, chopped green pepper, taco seasoning, water, crushed tortilla chips, refried beans, cheddar cheese and a variety of toppings. Complete the recipe by baking the ingredients in a casserole dish.
To make the taco casserole, cook 1 pound of ground beef, 1/4 cup of chopped onion and 1/4 cup of chopped green pepper in a large skillet over medium heat until the meat is no longer pink. Then stir in 1 envelope of taco seasoning and 1/2 a cup of water. Cook for about three minutes until the mixture thickens, then set it aside.
Next, place one cup of crushed tortilla chips in a greased 8-inch baking dish. Stir 1 16-ounce can of refried beans in a bowl and place over the tortilla chips. Then place the beef mixture and four ounces of cheddar cheese on top.
Place the casserole in the oven, uncovered, and bake at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 15-20 minutes or until heated entirely. You can then top it with lettuce, tomatoes and olives. You can serve this casserole with sour cream and hot sauce. This taco casserole serves four people and is a good recipe to make for a family dinner.
