To make strawberry freezer jam with Sure-Jell, combine strawberries and sugar, add boiling water and pectin, package the jam, and store it. The supplies you need are plastic containers, water, Sure-Jell pectin, strawberries, sugar, bowls, a stove, a pot, a spoon, a knife, a measuring cup and a potato masher.
- Combine strawberries and sugar
Hull 1 quart fresh strawberries, put them in a bowl and mash them. Transfer 2 cups crushed strawberries to a mixing bowl. Scoop up 1 cup white sugar, level the surface with a knife, pour it over the berries, and add 3 more cups of sugar with the same technique. Wait 10 minutes, stirring the berries several times.
- Add boiling water and pectin
Combine 3/4 cup water with one package Sure-Jell pectin, stir the mixture, and boil it. Stir the boiling liquid for 1 minute, and then pour it over the berries. Stir the jam for 3 minutes, until most of the sugar dissolves.
- Package the jam
Rinse lidded plastic containers, and spoon the jam into them. Leave 1/2 inch of space at the top of each container, clean the rims and attach the lids. Leave the containers undisturbed for 24 hours, and then transfer them to the refrigerator or freezer.
