Begin making the Special K bars by combining 1 cup of brown sugar or white sugar and 1 to 1 1/2 cups of light corn syrup in a microwave-safe bowl or a heavy saucepan. If brown sugar is used, mix in 1/2 cup of granulated sugar. Microwave the mixture for 2 minutes on high, stir and microwave again for another 2 minutes. Alternatively, boil the mixture on a stove using medium heat.
While the mixture cooks on a stove, add 1 1/2 cups of peanut butter, and stir until it becomes smooth. If using a microwave, take out the bowl, and mix in the peanut butter. Then, add 6 to 7 cups of the Special K cereal, blend well, and press the mixture evenly into a greased pan measuring 13 by 9 inches.
In another microwave-safe bowl, add 1/3 cups of peanut butter along with 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips. Melt in a microwave for 2 minutes on medium or on a double boiler.
