Creating microwaveable popcorn using a paper bag gives you control of the amount of oil and salt used, but also saves money. You need a bag of popcorn kernels, paper lunch bags, and salt or your preferred seasoning. Less than four minutes is needed to create a delicious snack.
To make a bag of popcorn in the microwave using a paper bag, measure out 1/4 cup of popcorn kernels, and pour them into a brown paper lunch bag. Spray the kernels lightly with olive or coconut oil. The oil allows the seasoning to stick to the kernels. Once sprayed with oil, sprinkle salt or your preferred seasoning on the kernels.
To keep the kernels inside the bag while popping, fold the top of the bag three times, leaving plenty of room for the popped kernels. Place the bag in the microwave, and cook on high for three to four minutes. Listen for the kernels to slow down until you hear approximately two seconds between each pop. Once it slows down, stop the microwave and remove the bag. Give the bag a few shakes to spread any leftover seasoning over the popcorn before pouring into a bowl.
For added flavor, sprinkle more salt or seasoning over the popcorn. For a movie theatre experience, melt a tablespoon of butter in the microwave for one minute and then pour over the popcorn.
