For a simple Bisquick pizza dough, mix 1 1/2 cups of Original Bisquick mix with 1/3 cup of very hot water. The Betty Crocker website has a recipe that details the steps of making an extra-easy pizza.
Once you mix the water with the Bisquick, beat the mixture 20 times to create a soft dough. If you stir the dough too much, it will be tough instead of soft. Press the dough into a greased 12-inch pizza pan and cover with 8 ounces of canned pizza sauce. Add cheese and your choice of ingredients. The recipe suggests using 1 1/2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese, 1 package of sliced pepperoni, 1/2 cups of sliced mushroom and 1/2 cup of chopped bell pepper. However, you can omit some ingredients or add cooked sausage, onions, pineapple or whatever pizza toppings you prefer.
Once the pizza is prepared to your liking, place it in a preheated 450 F oven. Cook the pizza until the crust is brown and the cheese is bubbly, or for about 12 to 15 minutes. The recipe makes 8 servings, and each serving has 235 calories.
A variation of the recipe calls for 2 tablespoons of Parmesan cheese and 1/2 cup of cheddar cheese instead of mozzarella. Leave off the meat and vegetables for an extra cheesy pizza.
Another alternative is to use the dough to make a pizza with pesto, fresh tomatoes, mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. For this variation, spread the dough with 3/4 cup of prepared pesto, then layer with one thinly sliced, fresh Roma tomato. Sprinkle with 2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese and 1/2 cup of shredded Parmesan cheese, and bake for 8 minutes at 450 degrees Fahrenheit. Finish with 1/4 cup of chopped basil leaves and a drizzle of olive oil.
