Make pigs in a blanket with crescent rolls by cutting canned crescent dinner roll dough into triangles, wrapping cocktail hot dogs with the dough and baking the rolls until golden brown. A recipe is available at Pillsbury.com.
Preheat the oven to 375 F. Unroll two 8-ounce cans of refrigerated crescent dinner rolls, and separate the dough into 16 triangles. Cut each triangle lengthwise into three smaller triangles. Open two 14-ounce packages of cocktail hot dogs or smoked link sausages, about 48 hot dogs in total. Place a hot dog on the short side of a dough triangle, and roll up to the opposite point of the dough triangle. Set the pig in a blanket point-side down on an ungreased cookie sheet pan.
Set the pan in the oven, and bake for 12 to 15 minutes until the dough appears golden brown, rotating the pan or pans halfway through. Remove the pigs in a blanket from the pan immediately after pulling the pans from the oven. Serve warm.
A variation that Food Network offers is Reuben pigs in a blanket. This recipe adds a sauerkraut and pickle relish mixture and Swiss cheese to the roll with the hot dog, tops the pigs in a blanket with caraway seeds and serves them with thousand island dressing.
