How Do You Make Paula Dean Crab Cakes?

Paula Dean Crab Cakes are made with crab meat, crackers, egg, onion, bell pepper, mayonnaise and various seasonings. The ingredients are mixed together, formed into patties and fried up on the stove top.

  • 1/2 c., peanut oil
  • Flour
  • Cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp., salt
  • 1/4 tsp., garlic powder
  • Juice from 1/2 lemon
  • 1 tsp., mustard powder
  • 1 tsp., Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 qty.,egg
  • 1/4 c., mayonnaise
  • 1/2 c., chopped bell pepper
  • 3 qty.,chopped green onions
  • 1/3 c., crumbled crackers
  • 1 lb., crabmeat

Step 1: Mix each of the ingredients in a large bowl completely. Hold back the oil and flour. These will be used later in the cooking process.

Step 2: Mold handfuls of the crab meat mixture into patties. Pour a small amount of the flour onto a tray or plate. Lightly dust the patties on both sides in the flour.

Step 3: Pour the peanut oil into a frying pan. Warm it up over medium heat. After the oil gets hot, carefully place the patties into the frying pan. Fry on one side for 4 to 5 minutes. Flip over and fry on the other side an additional 4 minutes.
