To make an Oreo cookie crumb crust, crush Oreo cookies and use melted butter to moisten the crumbs before pressing them into the bottom of a pie plate. Alternatively, use a food processor to create fine crumbs with the cookies.
Kraft Foods’ Oreo crust recipe calls for 18 Oreo cookies and 3 tablespoons of melted butter. Place the cookies inside a large resealable plastic bag, pressing the bag to remove any excess air before sealing it. Using a rolling pin, crush the cookies inside the bag, forming fine crumbs. Add 3 tablespoons of melted butter to the bag, and use your hands to work the butter throughout the crumbs to moisten them.
Spray a 9-inch pie plate with cooking spray, and press the crumb mixture into the bottom and up the sides of the pie plate. Fill the crust immediately, or refrigerate it and fill it later.
To speed up the process of crushing the crumbs, place the cookies in a food processor, and set the processor to pulse. Pulse the cookies to achieve a fine consistency, and then add the melted butter, thoroughly integrating it into the crumbs.
Kraft recommends using a dry measuring cup to press the crumb mixture firmly into the bottom and up the sides of the pie plate.
