To make an orange Jell-O creamsicle cake, prepare 1 package of orange cake mix according to the package instructions. Pour the batter into a 9-by-13-inch pan, and bake the cake as instructed. Poke the cooled cake with a fork. Combine 1 package orange-flavored Jell-O with water, and pour the mixture over the cake. Refrigerate the cake for one hour, then top with a mixture of whipped topping, vanilla pudding and orange flavoring.
Prepare the orange Jell-O mixture by combining the gelatin mix with 1/2 cup boiling water. Stir to combine. Cool the mixture by stirring in 1/2 cup cold water. Aiming for the holes, pour this mixture over the cake slowly, so it has time to soak into each individual opening.
To make the topping, beat together 1 1/2 cups cold milk with 1 small package of instant vanilla pudding mix. Add drops of orange flavoring to taste. You can also add 1 teaspoon vanilla. Alternatively, use an orange cream frosting flavor packet to flavor the topping.
Frost the top and sides of the cake as thickly as desired. Cover the cake, and place it in the refrigerator for at least one hour. Keep the cake refrigerated until ready to serve.
