Make Mountain Dew apple dumplings by cooking apples wrapped in crescent rolls in a butter, sugar and Mountain Dew mixture. Tart apples, such as Granny Smith apples, are recommended.
To make Mountain Dew apple dumplings, peel and core 2 to 4 Granny Smith apples. Cut the apples into wedges, sectioning them into at least 8 pieces. Open 2 cans of ready-made crescent rolls. Unwrap the dough, and divide it at the perforated edges. Roll a single apple slice in a crescent roll triangle, and place the apple dumplings in a baking pan.
Meanwhile, melt 1 cup of butter in a saucepan. Add 1 cup of sugar, and stir the mixture until the sugar dissolves. Mix in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon. Pour the butter mixture over the apple dumplings.
Pour 1 can of Mountain Dew either over the dumplings or around the edges of the pan. Sprinkle the dumplings with more cinnamon if desired. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Cook the dumplings until they brown. To keep the dumplings from burning before cooking all the way through, cover the baking dish with aluminum foil. Serve the dumplings warm from the pan with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
