Offer more than one type of crust for your pizza bar. Regular, whole wheat and gluten-free are good basic options. Try more exotic crusts like garlic, herb and cheese, or crispy focaccia bread as an option. Don't forget tongs to pick up the mini crusts.
You can use a basic jarred pizza or marinara sauce if you are short on time. Alternately, you can make a homemade or semi-homemade sauce to meet the tastes of any of your guests. Offer a red sauce and at least one other option such as pesto, Alfredo or balsamic glaze. Serving spoons are a must for sauces.
Mozzarella is always a good choice for mini pizza bars. Shredded, it offers a perfect complement to most pizza sauces and toppings. For variety, try sharp cheddar, crumbled feta or blue cheese, Gouda or Parmigiano Reggiano. Spoons, tongs, or graters make serving easier.
Your toppings can range from basic, such as pepperoni, olives and green peppers, to exotic, like caramelized onions, grilled pineapple and lobster. Consider providing an assortment of popular pizza toppings, or choose a theme, such as Hawaiian, and set out pineapple, bacon, and chicken. Don't forget about items like garlic salt, red pepper flakes, oregano, basil and other herbs to finish off the pizzas. Tongs, spoons, and toothpicks make service easy.
Lay out your pizza bar in a logical fashion. Start with plates, then move to crust options. Next, offer your sauce and cheese selections. Meats, vegetables, and other toppings come next. Garlic salt, Parmesan cheese, red pepper flakes, oregano and other herbs should be towards the end of the bar. Place napkins and silverware at the end of the bar so guests do not have to fumble with them as they build their mini pizzas.
Put the finished mini pizzas into the oven at 425 degrees Fahrenheit to melt the cheese and make the pizza piping hot.
