To make hot mustard sauce, place milk, vinegar, mustard, cornstarch and brown sugar and wire whisk the mixture until thoroughly blended. In the same saucepan, add salt, Italian seasoning and pepper and simmer the ingredients over low heat until they boil and thicken. Reduce the heat and simmer for about two minutes, add hot pepper sauce for seasoning and serve.
One cup of hot mustard sauce requires 1 cup milk, 1/4 cup spicy brown mustard, 3 tablespoons vinegar, 2 tablespoons cornstarch and 1 to 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning. The sauce also requires salt, sugar, freshly ground pepper or hot pepper sauce to taste. Mix the ingredients in a saucepan and whisk them until they meld well. Continue stirring the mixture over low heat until it boils. Allow the ingredients to thicken, then simmer for one to two minutes over low heat. Season and serve.
Alternatively, place 1/4 cup of powdered dry mustard in a bowl with 1/4 cup of cold water and stir the mixture gradually. Add 1/8 teaspoon of salad oil and continue stirring. Cover the ingredients and allow them to stand for about an hour. Serve the sauce immediately. For storage, transfer the mustard to a small jar, cover it and keep it in the refrigerator.
