To make kelp chips, use a dehydrator to dry a blended mixture of reconstituted dried kelp, nuts and seasonings. The other ingredients and seasonings can be varied according to taste.
- Gather materials and ingredients
This kelp chip recipe requires a medium-sized bowl, a food processor or blender, a food dehydrator, one package of dried kelp sheets, 1/2 cup raw cashews, 1/2 cup of spring water, one peeled lime, raw ginger with skin, wasabi powder, red chiles to taste, one clove of garlic and Himalayan sea salt.
- Prepare the kelp sheets
Soak the kelp in filtered water for approximately 10 to 20 minutes depending on the kelp thickness. The kelp should be soft before use. Cut the kelp into squares, and put aside in a medium-sized bowl.
- Make your kelp chips
Mix all remaining ingredients in a blender or food processor and blend. Pour the mixture onto the kelp squares in the bowl. Once the kelp squares are sufficiently coated with the seasoning blend, transfer them to the dehydrator, and dehydrate until crispy. If you do not have a dehydrator, put mixture on a baking sheet and place in a 275 degrees Fahrenheit oven for 20 minutes, or until the chips have reached the desired texture.
