Homemade applesauce is made by peeling and boiling apples, then blending them until smooth. The applesauce keeps in the refrigerator for about 3 days and up to 3 months in the freezer.
Homemade Blender Applesauce
Homemade applesauce without any added preservatives or unwanted ingredients is healthy and flavorful. This sauce is best when made with sweet, mild apples, like the Red Delicious.

- White vinegar
Step 1: Wash the apples in a mixture of white vinegar and water at a 1:3 ratio. Rinse under cool water. Dry and peel the apples.
Step 2: Cut, core and dice the apples. Make sure to remove all of the seeds, the stem and any remaining skin. Dice the apples into large chunks, since they will be pureed in a blender later on.
Step 3: Bring water to a soft boil in a medium-sized pot. Cook the apple chunks in the water for about 10 minutes or until tender. Drain and rinse the apples in cold water for 3 minutes to cool them.
Step 4: Place the apple chunks in the blender and puree until it reaches a smooth consistency. Add a little water to get the applesauce at the right thickness. Consider adding another fruit or vegetable to the sauce for a mix of flavors.
