Make hamburger steak using eggs, bread crumbs, Worcestershire sauce, vegetable oil, cooking sherry, sliced onion, beef broth and flour. Season the ground beef with pepper, salt, onion powder and garlic powder.
Begin by mixing together 1 pound of ground beef in a medium mixing bowl along with 1 egg, 1/4 cup of bread crumbs, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of onion powder, 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder and 1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce. Mix the ingredients together until they are completely incorporated. Form 8 balls out of the meat mixture, and flatten them into patties.
Heat 1 tablespoon of the vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cut the onion into thin slices. Pour 1 cup of thinly sliced onions into the skillet along with the meat patties. Fry the ingredients together until the meat patties are browned, or for about four minutes on each side. Remove the patties form the heat, and leave them on a paper towel covered plate to drain.
Add 2 tablespoons of flour to the onions in the skillet. Whisk in 1 cup of beef broth and 1 tablespoon of cooking sherry. Add 1/2 teaspoon of salt to the skillet, and stir the sauce until the salt is dissolved. Simmer the ingredients on a low heat setting for approximately five minutes to thicken the sauce. Add the meat patties to the gravy, cover the skillet, and cook the ingredients together for 15 minutes.
