To make great tasting turkey stuffing, incorporate ingredients such as turkey sausage, chestnuts, wine, green apples and cranberries. The Turkey Sausage and Chestnut Stuffing recipe also calls for butter, olive oil, salt and pepper. Combine these ingredients with 1/2 pound of day-old cornbread or another bread that you prefer, and let cook for approximately 45 minutes to an hour or until golden brown.
To prepare the stuffing ingredients, first preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Then combine diced green apples, 1 onion and 1 tablespoon each of olive oil and butter in a medium saucepan. Cook over medium-low heat. Next, add 1/4 cup of white wine, 6 ounces of cranberries, 1/2 tablespoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of pepper, and simmer for about five minutes.
Take the mixture off of the heat, and allow it to cool. Brown 1 pound of sweet turkey sausage in olive oil until cooked through. In a large mixing bowl, combine the sauce with the turkey sausage, red pepper flakes to taste, 1 cup of chicken stock, cornbread, and 3/4 cup of Parmesan cheese. Adorn the top of the stuffing with more Parmesan cheese and butter. Bake in a 8 1/2-by-8 1/2-inch Pyrex glass baking dish.
