To make granola bars with honey, combine simple ingredients that do not require the use of the oven. Alternatively, add ingredients such as sunflower seeds and wheat germ into the honey mixture and bake it for a tastier treat.
You need 3/4 cup honey, 3 cups of oats, 1 cup peanut butter and 1/4 cup chocolate chips. Put the honey and peanut butter in a pot and heat moderately while stirring until the mixture bubbles. Alternatively, microwave your peanut butter and honey mixture until the ingredients combine.
Add the chocolate chips to the oats and heated honey-peanut mixture and whisk them to allow the chips to melt. In a greased pan, mash the mixture using your hands or a masher until the mixture is lumpy and sticky. Spread the granola mixture on a flat surface. Once it cools, cut it into desired shapes to form bars.
The Food Network recommends preparing baked granola bars. Spread 8 ounces of oats, 2 ounces of almonds and 1/2 cup wheat germ on a baking pan and toast them in a preheated oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Mix 1/2 cup of honey with 1 ounce of butter, 1/4 cup brown sugar and 1/2 teaspoon of salt in a pan and heat moderately to dissolve the sugar. Combine the sugar mixture and the oat mixture, and bake at 300 F for 20 minutes. Let the mixture cool before cutting it into bars.
