Food Network has simple and easy to follow garlic bread recipes from two of its stars. Rachael Ray's recipe is a cheesier version of the classic appetizer.
To make Rachel Ray's garlic bread recipe, combine 4 cloves of crushed garlic, 2 tablespoons butter and 2 tablespoons olive oil in a saucepan. Heat the mixture for three minutes over moderate low heat. Split 1 loaf crusty bread, and toast it under a broiler. Remove the bread when it is golden brown, and brush liberally with the garlic oil mixture. Sprinkle with 3 tablespoons grated Parmesan and chopped fresh parsley. Return to the broiler and brown for 30 seconds.
To make Ina Garten's recipe, preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. In a food processor, add 6 large garlic cloves, 1/4 cup chopped parsley, 1/4 cup chopped oregano, 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper. Heat 1/2 cup olive oil in a saute pan, and add the garlic mixture. Remove the pan from the heat. Slice 1 loaf ciabatta bread in half horizontally, and spread 2 tablespoons unsalted butter on one half. On the other half, spread the garlic oil mixture and put the halves together. Wrap with aluminum foil and place the bread in the oven. Bake for five minutes, open the foil and finish baking for another five minutes.
