Make an erupting volcano cake by combining dry ice and a dyed egg white mixture with hot water. For the erupting effect, you need 1 1/2 teaspoons of sugar, 3 drops of red food coloring, 1/4 pound of dry ice and 1 to 2 ounces of hot tap water.
To make an erupting volcano cake, first make the cake portion by combining two boxes of red velvet cake mix with 2 2/3 cups of water, 1 cup of vegetable oil and six egg whites. Pour the batter into two 8-inch cake pans, two 10-inch cake pans and two 6-inch Bundt pan, and bake the cakes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 45 to 50 minutes.
Once the cakes cool, layer the cakes on top of each other, and trim the edges to form a conical shape. Cut holes into the top two layers, and line the hole with aluminum foil. Frost the volcano with chocolate frosting and drizzle, yellow, orange and red frosting down the sides for the lava.
Beat one egg white with 1 1/2 teaspoons of sugar and three drops of red food coloring until it turns foamy and thick. Place dry ice and the egg white mixture in the foil-lined hole, and then pour in hot water to create the eruption.
