Make blackberry cobbler by mixing blackberries with a flour- and milk-based batter and baking in an oven. A recipe for blackberry cobbler by Ree Drummond is published on FoodNetwork.com and takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes to complete.
First, preheat an oven to 350 F and grease a 3-quart baking dish with melted butter. Make the batter by whisking together 1 cup of sugar with 1 cup of self-rising flour and 1 cup of whole milk, and then whisk in a 1/2 stick of melted butter.
Rinse 2 cups of fresh blackberries under running water, and pat until dry. Frozen blackberries can substitute for fresh. Pour the batter into the greased baking dish and evenly spread the blackberries over the top. Sprinkle 1 1/4 cups of sugar on top of the blackberries and bake in the preheated oven for about one hour until the surface of the cobbler appears bubbly and golden brown. About 10 minutes before the cobbler is finished baking, sprinkle 2 tablespoons of sugar on top and allow to finish cooking.
Serve the cobbler warm and top with whipped cream or a la mode with ice cream. You can serve the cobbler with both whipped cream and ice cream.
