Sometimes, there is no barbecue sauce in the fridge to top those grilled chicken breasts, ribs and other grilled items. Rather than go without, consider making up this easy sauce recipe. It uses easy to find ingredients that most have in their own kitchens already and takes only minutes to prepare.

Cook Time: 5 min.

Total Time: 10 min.

  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons molasses
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  1. Combine ingredients
  2. Pour all of the ingredients into a small saucepan. Cooks may prefer to add the liquid ingredients first. When the liquids are well mixed, then add in the dry seasonings. Taste the sauce and adjust the seasonings to add more if needed.

  3. Heat sauce
  4. Heat the saucepan over low heat for 3 to 5 minutes. Stir the sauce to allow for even heating.

  5. Serve
  6. Brush the BBQ sauce over the grilled meat in the last 10 minutes of cooking. The recipe makes enough sauce to cover 16 portions of meat. Serve less meat and cooks can double up on portions of sauce for extra flavor.
