Eagle Brand seven-layer magic cookie bars are made with layers of graham cracker crumbs, chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, coconut and nuts, which are held together with Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk and butter. The ingredients are layered, baked and cut into the desired shape.
Assemble all the ingredients before making seven-layer magic cookie bars. You need 1 1/2 cups of graham cracker crumbs, 1 cup of semisweet chocolate chips, 1 cup of butterscotch chips, 1 1/3 c. coconut flakes and 1 cup of chopped nuts. Coconut flakes can be frozen, packaged or fresh. Any nut can be used, including pecans, walnuts and almonds.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Melt 1/2 cup of butter and combine it with the graham cracker crumbs. Press the mixture into the bottom of a 9 by 13-inch baking pan to form the bottom crust.
Pour one 14-ounce can of Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk over the graham cracker crumb crust. Follow this with a layer each of each of the chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, coconut flakes and nuts. Firmly press each layers down with the back of a spoon or fork. Bake for 25 minutes.
Remove the cookie bars from the oven and allow them to cool before cutting into bars. Keep them fresh in a covered container stored at room temperature.
