Dump cakes and dump dinners are prepared by combining simple food ingredients that complement one another, and baking them into a cake or casserole. Dump cakes mix cans of pie filling or canned fruit with cake mix to save time. Dump dinners feature meat, vegetables and cheeses in one dish.
Make cherry-pineapple dump cake by combining 1 can of cherry pie filling and 1 can crushed pineapple in a baking dish. Sprinkle 1 box of white cake mix over the fruit mixture, but do not stir. Cut 1-1/2 sticks of butter into 12 tablespoons, and evenly distribute butter on top of the mixture. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 45 minutes or until bubbly and browned.
Make a ravioli dump dinner by greasing a rectangular baking dish with cooking spray and preheating the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Spread 3/4 cup marinara sauce in the bottom, and layer 1/2 bag of frozen ravioli on top. Spread the remaining marinara sauce over the ravioli, and sprinkle 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese over the pasta. Distribute 1 cup fresh baby spinach over cheese, and repeat the layers of ravioli, cheese and spinach, using remaining ingredients. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese evenly on top, cover with aluminum foil, and bake according to directions.
