Prep time: 10 minutes
Cook time: 25 minutes
Ready in: 35 minutes
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 6 4-ounce cube steaks
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- 4 eggs
- Heat the skillet and oil
- Tenderize the steaks
- Prepare the batter mixtures
- Batter the steaks
- Fry the steaks
Heat the skillet on the stove over medium-high heat. Add the oil and let it heat up.
While the oil is heating, tenderize the steaks with a meat tenderizer. Pound them until they are less than 1/2-inch thick.
Blend the flour and spices together in a small bowl. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs.
Season both sides of the tenderized steaks with salt and pepper. Coat them with the flour mixture and then dip them in the beaten eggs. Coat the steaks in the flour a second time before cooking.
Fry the steaks in the oil for around 4 to 6 minutes on each side. Remove them from the pan when each side is golden brown. Blot them with paper towel to remove excess oil.
To make the most out of the ingredients in the recipe, combine the cooking oil, the leftover flour and some milk to make a gravy. Pepper sauce and Worcestershire sauce can add a kick.
