]A cake shaped house can be made by slicing two 9-inch by 13-inch cakes in half and layering those four halves on top of one another. Slicing the last layer into inclined angles creates the pitched roof of a house.
A cake is a fun and tasty treat to make for parties, special occasions or just a regular day. Amateur bakers can even get creative by making their cakes into houses with plenty of candy decoration. For this project, bakers need two 9-inch by 13-inch cakes, frosting, a cake knife and spatula.
- Slice the cake
- Stack the cake pieces
- Finish the roof
Slice the two cakes in half width-wise with the cake knife. Set one quarter of the cake in front of you. Measure roughly a third of the way down the cake, which is about an inch or two from the edge. Slice from this point to the bottom corner of the cake at the diagonal. Repeat for the other side of the cake, creating three pieces from this quarter.
Spread a thin layer of frosting on one piece of cake. Top this cake with a second piece. Spread a thin layer of frosting on the second piece and top with the third piece. Spread a thin layer of frosting on this third piece and top with the widest of the diagonally cut pieces.
Spread a thin layer of frosting on the top of the fourth layer, which is the widest of the diagonally cut pieces. Turn the two small diagonally cut pieces on their sides and place them on the top of the fourth layer, with the 90 degree angles pressed against one another. Frost and decorate the outside of the house cake.
