To make brownies from scratch, obtain 7 oz. of dark chocolate, three eggs, 6 oz. of salted butter, 7 oz. of soft brown sugar and 4 oz. of flour. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit, and combine and bake the ingredients.
First, melt the butter and chocolate. Place a heat-safe glass bowl above a saucepan that is filled with hot water. Add the butter and chocolate to the bowl and let it melt. It's important that the water only simmers and never gets hot enough to boil. Stir the butter and chocolate together. Once this is done, allow the mixture to cool.
While the chocolate mixture is cooling, whisk the eggs and sugar together until they form a pale, frothy texture. This is important as the air whisked into the mix will allow the brownies to have fluffiness. Pour the chocolate mix in with the eggs, stir, add flour, stir some more and add any desired ingredients, such as nuts, fruit or candy. Once everything is mixed together, pour the mixture into a non-stick baking pan, place it in the oven and wait about 30 minutes. The brownies will look done when they have a dry, cracked surface and soft, spongey insides.
