According to Environmental Working Group's Bottled Water Scorecard, 2011, Whole Foods Italian Still Mineral Water is the lowest-rated bottled water brand. This is because the company does not provide certain fundamental facts about its product on its label or official website.
The EWG states that three basic facts about bottled water, namely the name of the water source and its location, treatment given to the water and its purity, must be given on the label or on the website of the company. Since Whole Foods Italian Still Mineral Water provides none of these basic facts about its bottled water on its label or online, the EWG has rated it the worst in terms of transparency.
The brand only mentions the water source on its label. Hence, the EWG has graded bottled water from Whole Foods Italian Still Mineral Water as 'F' and has given it a score of 0.5/10. According to EWG, the brand has also not provided a water quality report on its website and has not subjected its bottled water through any advanced treatment; its water has only undergone basic filtration, UV treatment and ozonization.
According to the EWG Bottled Water Scorecard of 2011, there are five other brands of bottled water that are also worst in terms of transparency. All these brands have been graded as 'F' too.
