How Long Will Pork Last in the Freezer?

Properly wrapped, fresh pork will last between three to six months in the freezer, depending on the type of pork it is. Ground pork will last up to three months in the freezer before losing flavor, while full cuts of pork, such as pork chops, ribs and shoulder, will last for up to six months.

When storing pork in the freezer, it is important to wrap it properly to extend its shelf life. To wrap pork for freezing, use heavy-duty freezer paper, aluminum foil, plastic film or plastic freezer bags. Wrap in individual or single-use portions and cover exposed bones to keep them from protruding through the wrapping. It should be noted, however, that freezing cooked ham is not ideal as freezing will affect the texture of the meat.
