KFC purchases its chicken from suppliers throughout the world. According to the company website, its parent company, Yum! Brands, developed an Animal Welfare Advisory Council to ensure the chickens it buys is treated humanely prior to being slaughtered.
According to its website, KFC established a Supplier Code of Conduct for its U.S. suppliers in an effort to ensure that they conduct business ethically.
InfoWars.com reported that in 2013, KFC cut ties with more than 1,000 of its Chinese chicken suppliers after learning that a number of them were selling meat with a high antibiotic content. When word of the high antibiotic content leaked to the general public, KFC saw sales dip 6 percent in China.
