What Are Some Key Ingredients in Homemade Meat Stuffing for Turkeys?

Key ingredients for homemade meat stuffing for a turkey include ground beef, pork and sausage. The Food Network and the Home Shopping Network both provide complete recipes for the meat stuffing.

Brown the beef and pork in 1/2 cup of butter. Veal can replace one of the types of meat. Other key ingredients include 10 hard boiled eggs, five slices of bread, three chopped onions and 15 chopped garlic cloves. It also includes five finely chopped celery stalks, one finely chopped green and red bell pepper and 20 finely chopped scallions.

After browning the beef, add 1/2 cup of the chopped onions and half of the chopped garlic. Add 1 cup of steak sauce, 1/2 cup of apple cider vinegar, 1 tablespoon of lemon zest and 1 tablespoon of ground cumin. Also add 1 tablespoon of dried oregano, salt and pepper.

Soak the bread in milk for approximately three minutes. Squeeze excess liquid from the bread, then set the bread aside. In a large pot, melt 1/2 cup of butter. Add the bell peppers, celery stalks and scallions. Add 4 ounces of tomato paste and cook it for 15 minutes. Add the cooked meat, chopped sausage, chopped eggs and other ingredients you desire, such as raisins.

Before stuffing the turkey, allow the stuffing to cool. The recipe yields 12 to 14 servings.
