To make a perfect crown rib beef roast, dust the crown rib roast with house seasonings made of salt, pepper and garlic powder. Place the meat in an oven for an hour before turning off the heat, then leave the roast in the oven to slow-cook.
Remove the crown rib roast from the refrigerator and allow to sit at room temperature for one hour. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Create house seasoning by combining 1 cup of salt with 1/4 cup of black pepper and 1/4 cup of garlic powder. Store in an airtight container.
Place the crown rib roast on a rack inside a baking pan, fat side up. Rub 1 tablespoon of the house seasoning into the roast. Place the roast into the oven and bake for one hour. Turn off the heat but do not open the oven. Allow the roast to bake for 3 hours. 30 to 40 minutes before serving, turn the heat back on but do not open the oven. Once the roast has reheated, serve immediately.
An alternative to making the house seasoning is to combine 2 teaspoons of salt with 1 teaspoon of garlic powder and 1 teaspoon of pepper in a small bowl. Rub the mixture into the roast before baking.
