The ingredients necessary for an Oreo pie recipe are 36 Oreos, 1/4 cup melted butter, one 8-ounce package softened cream cheese, 1/3 cup sugar and 2 cups thawed Cool Whip. For the Oreos, crush 24 cookies into crumbs, chop eight cookies into pieces and halve the remaining four cookies.
To make the Oreo pie, mix the butter and crushed Oreos, press into the bottom of a 9-inch pie plate, and refrigerate. Beat the cream cheese and sugar until fluffy, then mix in the Cool Whip and chopped cookies. Add the filling to the crust and refrigerate until firm. Garnish the top of the pie with the Oreo halves, cut side down. For a lighter version, use reduced fat Oreos, cream cheese and Cool Whip.
For a variation on the traditional Oreo pie, try the Oreo triple-layer chocolate pie. Start by making the crust the same way as in the traditional version. Then, whisk together two 3.9-ounce packages of Jell-O chocolate pudding mix and 2 cups cold milk, and pour 1 1/2 cups of the pudding into the crust. Stir half of an 8-ounce package of Cool Whip into the remaining pudding, and spread it over the pudding layer. Mix eight chopped Oreo cookies into the other half of the Cool Whip, and spread on top of the pie. Refrigerate the pie for at least four hours before serving.
