Baked Acorn Squash with Brown Sugar and Butter

Preheat the oven to 400 F.
Use a spoon to scoop the pulp and seeds from the center of each squash piece and discard.
Combine the brown sugar, butter, maple syrup, pepper and salt in a small mixing bowl and stir until blended.
Rub the mixture all over the inside and fleshy portions of the squash.
Place the squash on a cooking sheet with the cut side up. Bake for 1 hour or until tender. Test the tenderness of the squash with a fork; when it pierces through the flesh without hesitation it is done.
