A basic Bundt cake icing calls for 1/3 cup of stick margarine or butter, 2-4 tablespoons of water, 2 cups of powdered sugar and 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla. Bundt cake icing is easy to make and can be personalized by adding ingredients to change the taste or texture.
To make a basic Bundt cake icing, start by heating the margarine or butter in a saucepan. Once melted, remove from heat and pour into a bowl. Slowly add in the vanilla and powdered sugar, continuously stirring to prevent lumps in the sugar. Add 1 tablespoon of water at a time and stir until the icing has a smooth, syrupy consistency.
Remove the Bundt cake from the baking pan and transfer to a clean serving platter, placing the rounded side of the cake up. With a measuring cup, slowly drizzle the icing over the top of the cake using a zigzag motion. Most of the icing should remain on top and begin to drip down the sides of the cake. Using a small spatula or a butter knife, gently spread the icing around the top of the cake so that the entire cake is evenly iced. Allow the icing to set before serving.
