Latte pops, Italian sausage and cinnamon pumpkin pancakes are three healthy weight loss recipes featured on "The Doctors" TV show. These dishes are lower in calories because they contain ingredients such as lean ground pork and low-fat yogurt.
To make latte pops, blend 1 cup of 2 percent Greek yogurt with 1/2 cup of brewed coffee, 3 tablespoons of agave nectar, 1 tablespoon of cocoa, 1 teaspoon of vanilla and 1/8 teaspoon of cinnamon. Freeze the puree in molds for six hours.
To make Italian sausage, combine 1 pound of lean ground pork with 1/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon of egg substitute, 1/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon of bread crumbs, 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon of fennel seeds, 1 1/2 teaspoons of garlic powder and 1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning. Add 3/4 teaspoon of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne and 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper. Divide the mixture into eight portions, and shape each portion into a sausage. Spray the sausages with olive oil, and place them on baking sheets. Bake the sausages for nine to 11 minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
To make cinnamon pumpkin pancakes, grind 1/2 cup of oats with 2 teaspoons of baking powder, 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon and 1/4 teaspoon of ginger for two minutes. Add 2 eggs, 1/4 cup of pumpkin puree and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla, and blend the mixture. Cook the pancakes in a skillet over medium heat using 1/4 cupfuls of the batter, cooking the pancakes for two minutes on each side. Serve with applesauce.
