Snacks that can be eaten on the go and that are flavorful and filling appeal to the average teen, including pudding, yogurt, mini muffins and snack mixes. Air-popped popcorn is a good snack for teens, espeically flavored with some grated cheese, a mixture of herbs and spices or a sprinkling of cinnamon sugar.
For a teen with a sweet tooth, single-serving cups of pudding or fruit yogurt make popular snacks. Mini muffins are also appealing. Make them with apples and nuts, mixed berries, or chocolate and zucchini. Popsicles made with fresh fruit and fruit juice are kid-friendly snacks on hot days.
Snack mixes are tasty and transportable in the bottom of a backpack without damage. Combine nuts, raisins, shredded coconut, pumpkin seeds and chocolate chips, or make a salty mix of mini pretzels, cheese popcorn, nuts and sesame sticks.
Dippable snacks are popular with all kids. Serve celery sticks or apple slices with a scoop of peanut butter or a small cup holding a tablespoon of honey. Pair pretzel sticks, low-fat tortilla chips or pita chips with salsa or hummus. Serve broccoli florets, pepper strips and carrot sticks with ranch dressing.
More teen-friendly snack ideas include string cheese, hard-boiled eggs, oatmeal and fruit smoothies.
