Foods such as a granola bars paired with skim milk and peanut butter spread on English muffins served with fruit make great, healthy breakfasts for teenage boys. A family could also try one of a few recipes for healthy breakfasts, such as granola and yogurt parfaits, and personalized oatmeal.
For granola and yogurt parfaits, an individual should first gather 1 cup of the teenager's favorite yogurt and a fruit that matches the yogurt. Then, depending on the type of fruit, mash or slice it. Next, place 1 tablespoon of fruit on the bottom of a parfait glass or any other glass available. Layer on top 2 tablespoons of yogurt and 1 tablespoon of granola. Repeat this process two more times, ending with a top layer of granola.
Another healthy breakfast option is oatmeal that teens can customize themselves. For this recipe, families should put 1 1/2 cups oatmeal in a blender and blend until it is a powder. Then, divide the blended oatmeal into 10 individual Ziploc bags by placing 2 tablespoons in each. Next, combine 1/4 cup regular oatmeal, 1 tablespoon of non-dairy creamer and 1 tablespoon of sugar or other sweetener in each bag. Each individual snack bag can then be customized by adding extras such as 1 tablespoon of brown sugar, raisins, apple slices or fruit butters.
