Creme Savers were first introduced in 1988. These hard candies were made to be part of the Life Savers brand of candy. In 2002, a sugar-free version of Creme Savers was introduced. The three flavors available in sugar free included strawberries and creme, chocolate and caramel creme.
In Nov. 2004, Kraft Foods announced the sale of its Life Savers and Altoids brands to Wrigley Jr.
Company. The sale was worth $1.5 billion and was part of Kraft Foods' reorganization plan. After selling these two iconic candy brands, Kraft Foods said that it wasn't leaving the candy industry and planned to continue to sell Toblerone and Milka L'il Scoops, according to the New York Times.
As of 2014, Creme Savers are made from sugar, corn syrup, hydrogenated coconut oil, cream and less than 2 percent of lactic acid, natural and artificial flavors, salt, coloring and soy lecithin.
